After Tunisia and Egypt, Libya's dictator Gaddafi burns. The Mediterranean sea, although the reasons differ from country to country in part, is on fire and Italy has now declined to exercise influence in this arena where it should be the main actor.
We still have all the eyes that Gaddafi is now bombarding the demonstrators from aviation treated with full honors by the Italian Government only a few months ago. Our awkward silence on the riots in recent weeks booming even more now. In Libya, however, our major companies have huge interests, see today's stock market crash of Eni and Impregilo -5% over 6% which is covered by the agreement Treaty of Friendship, Partnership and Cooperation Agreement which provides for a € 5 billion investment in infrastructure such as compensation for the Italian colonialism.
All this happens with the specter of tens of thousands of refugees pressing on the Italian coast and a government that is incapable of handling the emergency.
