The mangosteen and its benefits

Mangosteen, Garcinia mangostana scientifically called , is a beneficial and delicious exotic fruit to taste. Belonging to the family of guttiferae the mangosteen is a tropical evergreen plant, native to the Sunda Islands and the Archipelago of the Moluccas in Southeast Asia.

Mangosteen is not only a delicious fruit and excellent flavor. Studied in 150 years, with over 110 studies published in scientific journals with research involving all parts of the body, research on the mangosteen is increasing exponentially, from 15 in 1980, 30 in the decade of 1990 and 45 since 2000. Its therapeutic properties were known in 600 AD, when the scribes in Southeast Asia used this fruit for the preparation of herbal products.
